Polishing Your Competitive Edge: Enhancing Non-technical Research Information (CRPDE Workshop)

Wed, 01/11/2012 - 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Adams Computer Lab (AH 312)

Obtaining funding for your research is harder than ever. Competition is incredible and even with a stellar research idea, a funding decision may come down to how you present yourself and your institution. To add to the hurdles, funding agencies and reviewers are finding more non-technical reasons to reject proposals outright and are sticking to guidelines and rules. This workshop is a hands-on session to improve the non-technical components used to support and promote your research record. You will have the opportunity to polish your biosketch/resume/vita, draft non-technical proposal sections well in advance of a proposal deadline, learn to skillfully describe institutional resources, and receive feedback regarding how you present your “research self” to the world. This workshop will focus on all funding agencies, including OU’s Research Council, the federal agencies and private foundations. Registered attendees will be given a list of items to develop prior to and during the workshop. At the end of the workshop, attendees will have developed a set of documents, perspectives, and skills that will save them time when developing funding proposals as well as promoting themselves in a more competitive way.
