The Advisor, Advanced Pivot Searching and Saving Searches

What's the Advisor?

The Pivot Advisor automatically creates a curated list for your profile. The results are dependent on your profile, so the more up-to-date and accurate your profile, the better you opportunity suggestions. Log in, click on the Pivot home page button in the upper right hand corner, and click on "Advisor" in the left hand column.

Why do advanced Pivot searches?

Pivot maintains thousands of funding opportunities, Advanced Search can

  • Narrow results to fit your specialization and demographic,
  • Allow you to save searches for quick review,
  • Email new or updated opportunities weekly.

Note: CRPDE has already defaulted Pivot's activity location and citizenship to the United States or Unrestricted.

Getting started with Advanced Search

  • Under the Basic Search query in the Funding page, click on "Advanced Search"
  • The first half of the Advanced Search page covers criteria to include in the search. The lower half (greyed out) covers criteria to exclude.
  • Tips:
    • Funding Type narrows how the funding will be used (e.g., research, equipment, travel)
    • Keyword can narrow by discipline or specialization
    • Requirements can narrow by demographic (e.g., academic institution, degree, minority status)
  • Once you have returned the intial results, results can be further filtered by selecting items in the left column.

Marking opportunities: Active vs Tracked

Mark search results currently pursuing as Active. Mark opportunities to investigate later as Tracked. In both cases, you can access the list at any time, or have Pivot email you with updates. By default, Pivot will send you email alerts of opportunities in your Active and Tracked lists; you can change this for individual opportunities (click on Options next to the listed opportunity) or for all opportunities (in your profile settings).

Sharing opportunities and collaborating

Have a colleague or colleagues you'd like to share the opportunity with? You can Share the opportunity (or several opportunities) with colleagues. They'll get an email notifying them and you'll get a confirmation email.
