2018 Symposium Theme: Translation of Healthcare Technology

The 2nd Annual OU-OUHSC Biomedical Engineering Symposium will be in the Samis Education Center at the OU Health Sciences Center on March 30, 2018. The Symposium is aimed to bring together the biomedical science and engineering community from the Norman campus and the clinicians and scientists from the Health Sciences Center campus in unprecedented fashion. The symposium will engage clinicians, entrepreneurs, basic scientists, engineers, and key players from the bioscience industry, all aligned in the collective vision of building new partnerships and spreading awareness. Leadership of the Symposium includes members of both campuses, including clinical input to ensure a welcoming and enabling environment for clinicians to attend.

At the heart of the conference organization is the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering and the OU Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Technology (IBEST). High-level presentations will showcase the exciting new capabilities and developments at OU, OUHSC, OU-Tulsa, the VA, OMRF and the bioscience industry in the areas of biomedical engineering and healthcare.

Student Poster Competition

All UNDERGRADUATE and GRADUATE students are eligible to participate in the Student Poster Competition. The above deadline applies for poster competition submissions. Use the link provided but you must check the box on the form confirming you are entering the poster competition.

GUIDELINES

The student should be listed as the first author (corresponding author) and the student’s advisor as the second or the last author. Other individuals may be listed as co-authors, if appropriate. A student may submit only ONE entry for the Student Paper Competition. For the format for the poster abstract, please follow the same instruction in submitting general abstracts to the symposium.

Submissions are evaluated on their originality, scientific merits, structure, and clarity of composition. All submissions will be peer-reviewed and winners selected based on the merits of submissions. Based on submitted abstracts, 10 finalists will be selected for poster judging on-site by a judge panel. At the symposium, the judges will stop by these 10 posters to select winners at first, second, and third places. Finalists must attend the symposium to receive their awards. First, second and third place winners will be selected and these winners will receive a certificate and monetary awards ($200 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for third place). Finalists will receive certificates.
