External Funding

CRPDE assists faculty members utilize three specific funding databases: COS Pivot, Foundation Directory Online, and Grants.gov. CRPDE staff are available to assist you individually or in groups (research groups, departments, etc.) navigate and utilize the funding databases.


 GrantForward (see quick overview video) helps you find grant opportunities that suit your research needs with a database of grants from over 12,000 sponsors which is updated daily. You can search for grants by keywords and advanced filters, save your favorite searches for new grant alerts, and save your favorite grants to keep track of them. GrantForward also recommends grants to you based on your CV, past publications, and research interests.

You can access GrantForward at www.grantforward.com. In order to be able to use full search features including saved-search and personalized grant recommendations, please sign up (see quick demo) for a user account using your University of Oklahoma (@ou.edu) email address. We also encourage you to take a few minutes to create your “Researcher Profile” (see quick demo) to start receiving grant recommendations!

Community of Science Pivot

Note: COS Pivot will be replaced by a new search engine as of January 1, 2019. We are currently testing GrantForward (https://www.grantforward.com) and encourage you to use it for external funding searches.

Community of Science Pivot is a funding database sponsored through the OU Vice President for Research and the OU Libraries. It provides extensive search capabilities, can send personalized updates, and allows you to connect with other researchers. CRPDE highly recommends creating a profile and utilizing this resource.

Foundation Directory Online

Foundation Directory Online provides a centralized location for foundation and corporate donor listings. Due to licensing restrictions, CRPDE maintains a computer at our Research Campus office for searching the foundation database, available at any time we are open. Staff are available to assist you in getting started.


Grants.gov provides a centralized location for finding federal government grants from 26 federal agencies.
